ABSTRACT

한국의 방들 중 중앙은 거실의 중립적 공간이 있고, 주변은 찜질의 프로그램 안에서 다양한 분위기의 방들로 둘러싼 찜질방의 위상과 유사한 도시 조직을 추출한다. 이들이 가지는 중립적 공간은 이동보다는 머무름의 성격을 띠어 사람들이 주변을 보며 휴식하고 커뮤니티가 발생한다. 그 중 막다른 길과 인접한 주거들을 관찰하며 천장산 자락의 여러 분야의 대학들의 지식공유연구소로 재정의한다. 대학들이 점점 도시화되고 확장되어 캠퍼스의 경계가 흐려지며, 대학과 전공에 상관없이 연습하고, 연구하고, 창작하고, 나누는 새로운 도시의 방들을 제안한다.

Similar typologies of “Jimjilbang”, among the rooms in Korea, which has a neutral living room space on the center, surrounded by various steam rooms, are extracted from the urban fabric. Their neutral space has the character of staying rather than passby, so people take a rest while looking around and create communities. Among them, dead end and adjacent houses are observed and redefined as knowledge sharing startup labs for universities in Cheonjang Mountain. Universities get urbanized and expanded, blurring the boundaries of campuses, suggesting new urban rooms to practice, research, create and share regardless of universities or major.
